Alternate Design
The 2016-2023 FIAT 500X was not compatible with our original design, so we created the Grille Mount Platypus instead! This version can be installed anywhere on your grille, ensuring that it doesn't interfere with and parking sensors on your 500X.
Grille Mount Front License Plate Holder
The Platypus Grille Mount is a front license plate bracket that installs directly onto your 500X’s grill, preventing you from making the irreversible mistake of drilling mounting holes into your new FIAT. Our method of mounting license plates is reversible, stylish, and completely legal.
Removable
We can all agree that most cars look best without a front license plate at all, but if you’re driving in a state that requires the front plate, we’ve designed our Grille Mount Platypus to be easily installed in a matter of minutes. When you no longer need it, The Platypus can be removed easily, leaving no trace that it was ever there.
Materials
The backplate is made from 12-Gauge Steel and is the exact size of a standard license plate for maximum protection. The bracket is also made from steel and is backed with a soft rubber pad to protect your grille. Both parts are powdercoated with a textured black finish. We use stainless steel hardware to protect from the elements.

BMW 430i Xdrive
I love my Platypus. One of the reasons I bought my new car is that I love the grill. Apparently some other people find it offensive. Oh well, here's my grill in your face, unobstructed. The Platypus was a breeze to put on, is very sturdy, and the quick release works as advertised. It did require me to bend it perhaps 1/2" towards the vehicle to clear a sensor and has held that position like a rock. I would suggest buying the Platypus Pro Wrench also if you buy a Platypus, it's a hefty tool which will make installation/removal even easier.

Love the mount, had a cheapo delux tow bolt mount previously that was pretty awful. Platypus is solid and the design makes it great to remove for dicey snowstorm conditions and the occasional touchy car wash (I know…). Customer service is top-notch as I had a minor issue with bolt sizing that was quickly addressed with the assistance of Kinsey. Thanks for a good product and solid support.
ND3 Miata front plate holder
I received the CravenSpeed license plate holder in a timely manner. The quality is superb. At first, I read from a few reviewers that the back side of the plate/mount can rub the bumper's edge. That is not the case for me. The installation is very straight forward and very easy. I'll say there is about 1/4 to 1/2 in gap. I would highly recommend this product to the ND Miata's owner.
