Let's get started

  1. The removal of the factory armrest cover may only be facilitated by accessing the rearmost mounting screws from the underside of the tunnel cover, so we'll need to remove it. Clear out anything tucked into the center console cubby forward of the shifter and using your trim panel removal tool (or your fingers), pry up on the shifter surround and remove it along with the rubber tray that fits into the cubby. You'll need to remove your shift knob to allow the shifter boot to slide up and off of the shift lever. NOTE: For automatics, set the shifter into the N (neutral) position and pull up on the shift knob to remove it.

  1. Once the shifter surround is off, it will expose two Phillips screws that will need to be removed.

  1. With your fingers or the trim panel removal tool, push up on the forwardmost corners of the center tunnel cover and disconnect the tabs that affix it into place.

  1. Flip around in the seat and now pull up on the rearmost corners of the tunnel cover and pop it loose.

  1. You can now get a glimpse of the underside of the tunnel cover where you will now need to disconnect the infotainment dial wiring plug and eBrake boot from the eBrake mount hook.

  1. Slide the eBrake boot up the handle as high as possible to help assist in removal of the tunnel cover.

  1. Flip the tunnel cover over and remove the two screws at the base of the factory armrest lid.

  1. Flip the tunnel cover back over to the topside, open the armrest cover and remove the two screws located here.

  1. With those four (4) screws removed the factory armrest cover will lift right off. Take a few moments to clean any debris that may have made its way between the seams.

  1. Set the MX5Things ND Armrest into place and using the factory screws, affix it into place.

  1. You're almost finished! Reverse the steps for removal and reinstall the tunnel cover. Make sure you reconnect the infotainment dial wiring plug and reattach the eBrake boot to the hook mount. The install is complete!
