Procedure
- The Ford Bronco HD Modular Bumper features some T40 Torx head screws for mounting aftermarket accessories. We will be utilizing one of these screw points for the mounting of the license plate kit.
- Remove this screw with your T40 Torx driver and place it in your parts bin. You will not be reusing this screw as we have provided a replacement that will allow access to the quick-release functionality.
- With the factory T40 Torx screw removed, we can now install the M8 stainless steel screw and hardware for the plate mount. Place the thinner black washer onto the M8 screw first, followed by the thicker oversized washer.
- Thread it into the bumper and leave about a 1/8" gap between the two washers.
- The Platypus License Plate bracket features a keyhole, quick-release mounting system. To affix the plate to your bumper, simply set the plate mounting tab onto the M8 screw, between the two washers, and shift the plate into the smaller slot of the keyhole. Visually level the plate then tighten it up with your 13mm combination wrench. If any portion of the plate appears to be too close or touching the bumper, simply flex the plate away from the bumper a bit to bend the mounting tab and increase clearance.
- Finally, use the 4 stainless steel button head screws to attach your license plate to the backplate. You’ll need a 5/32” hex wrench for the screws. If you’d also like to use a license plate frame, we have 1/2" screws available here .

If you need to remove The Platypus License Plate Mount, you may utilize its quick-release feature and simply place your 13mm combination wrench behind the plate, loosen the M8 screw, then slide the plate to the side and off of the keyhole mounting tab. Reverse these steps for reinstallation.
