How to Make the Best Phone Mount

Our approach to designing the best vehicle phone mounts is centered around 3 core principles. Firstly, we are very skeptical of most universal fitment mounts on the market. Things like suction cups, vent clips, or stick-on mounts aren't designed specifically for your Cooper. They can fall off very easily and don't keep your device safe. Our preference is to design mounts with specific vehicle fitment. For the MINI Cooper, we utilize attachment points on the back of the gauge cluster. Our laser-cut steel bracket mounts securely to the back of the cluster.

Rapid Attachment

Device attachment to the mount should be fast, easy, and secure. Our magnetic attachment system is the fastest and most convenient method of attaching a device to the mount. Our scissor attachment offers our most secure mounting solution.

Adapts to You

The last part of the puzzle is you. Humans come in all shapes and sizes. Thus, our Cooper phone mount features an adjustable arm. All attachments feature 360 degrees of rotation, and our magnetic options also feauture an articulating ball head.

All of our Gemini mounts are machined and assembled in the USA and come with a lifetime warranty. We put a lot of effort into designing mounts that are easy to install and require very few tools. By following our detailed install guide, anybody can install a Gemini mount in their driveway. All hardware necessary to install the mount and attach any device is included. For 3rd Gen MINIs with the digital cluster, you will need to remove some Torx screws. A Torx driver for these screws is included with the mount.

Magnetic vs MagSafe vs Scissor

This mount is available with three different styles of device attachment. The first two are magnet-based. Our Magnet/MagSafe attachments are compatible with any device and offer the ultimate speed and convenience. Phones or cases equipped with MagSafe are directly compatible with the MagSafe attachment. All other devices require the use of an included adhesive-backed metal plate. For phones with Qi functionality, the MagSafe version is the best choice. This version comes with a ring plate that will not interfere with the wireless charging feature. Any non-MagSafe or non-Qi device can use either version, though the standard Magnet base is recommended in this case.

We also offer a scissor grip attachment for those looking for an alternative to the magnetic attachments. With this version, CNC machined billet aluminum arms form a spring-loaded gripper mechanism. The soft rubber pegs gently and securely grip your device to ensure that it does not fall out. The scissor mechanism can rotate 360 degrees so the phone can be held in either portrait or landscape mode.

The Scissor attachment is only compatible with devices with a width between 55-75mm.
