Mazda MX5 Shift Knob
Very prompt delivery to Ohio. There was a small scratch on the insert, I contacted Craven Speed and they had the replacement out the same day. Product is first class and the people are as well.
Much more of a precision machined product than one would think. Beautifully machined.
Funny. I got the shift knob for my NC and I probably had the same "You just screw it on" preconception than our ham-****** friend that left the one star review had. It took me quite a bit to realize I was working with a finely machined, super high quality product that required (and deserves) a very delicate touch (to attach the top plate, very stout otherwise). Once I had the epiphany that I was working with very small screws that required a deft touch to thread, I had no problems. I can't even Imagine the level of frustration the manufacturer must feel when somebody submits a review that says "I stripped 4 of the 6 screws, so I blame the manufacturer"; so unfair. The product is a work of art!
Regrettably, dissatisfied
In fairness, I had very high hopes for this item. However: I had such a difficult time attempting to attach the top plate to the knob body that I actually broke off two of the extremely flimsy screws in the knob body, itself. I am not new to working with my hands and would gladly accept the blame for being too aggressive or imprecise in my efforts, but after stripping a third and fourth screw with the included allen wrench, I am certain that either inaccurate machining, coupled with what must quite literally be the flimsiest screws I have ever handled, are more to blame. To be clear: this is not a cheap shift-knob. I expected very much more for my money than a useless lump of plastic and metal with unseatable and twisted screws sticking out of it at odd angles. It is utterly useless as a shift knob. I did not return it, nor did I throw it away. Rather, It sits on my desk to remind me of where not to spend my money in the future. Thank you for e-mailing me and asking for my review. I hope you make efforts to improve the quality of this product as soon as possible.

Single Best Shift Knob on the Market
I've been scouring the internet for a while, trying to find a shift knob to replace the OEM Miata one. These guys were the only ones that made exactly what I wanted. The 6-screw bolt pattern for the cap plate is nice. Apart from looking great, it makes aligning the shift pattern much easier. Since you can place the pattern cap on at 60° increments, you don't need to mess around with a jam nut or set screw. The separate steel core and Delrin cover is a wonderfully executed design. I daily my Miata, so I don't want to grab a steel knob that will be freezing in the winter and boiling in the summer. The quality of the machining on both the steel core and the Delrin cover is very good (sounds like a zipper when you run your nail along it). The price might seem high to some people, but that's the nature of custom-machined components. Overall extremely satisfied with this product.
